How do you find happiness?
Nirvana Manor was my first attempt at a full length novel. It uses the relationship between characters to create humour
and tension. The central characters are:
- George, a naïve, down at heel member of the aristocracy, who inherits the huge, rambling old house in the English
countryside that is Nirvana Manor.
- Morgwyn (not her real name), a charlatan, con woman and spiritualist who uses New Age mysticism to con money out of her
clients.
- Simon, who claims to be a scientist and inventor who creates some very interesting and wild inventions.
- Mariah, a new age woman, who is always unsuccessfully seeking happiness and usually bursts into tears at every opportunity.
- Vince, an aspiring mystic who tends to say meaningless statements as if they are wise parables, confusing all around him.
- Pete, a powerful, highly trained commando who uses hi tech equipment as he hides at Nirvana Manor from a very dangerous
but unidentified foe.
This group of misfits live together in George’s huge decrepit house. The scenes in the story are wide ranging,
including a mysterious séance, a very funny fete, several fights and a ‘Home Alone’ style battle for the house.
I'm thinking of rewriting it as soon as I get a chance to add more mysticism and a special new character. Watch
this space.
